Chris always loved music and he was listening to it since a very young age. When Chris turned 11, he got his first pair of high-quality Bowers & Wilkins speakers that allowed him to enjoy all types of sounds in great quality.

He lived in Worthing all of his life, Worthing is a beautiful place in the UK that’s home to Bowers & Wilkins. Chris’s grandmother lived just minutes from the B&W factory, Chris spent a lot of time at his grandmother’s house.

Chris learned the basics of electronics from his grandfather, a retired telecoms engineer. He built his first speakers at age 11 using only parts that he found in Bowers & Wilkins trash.

Chris spent a lot of time with his grandparents when he was younger.

Chris is grandfather Alfred always had a project for Chris from a very young age, taking things apart and reassembling them was a normal activity for them to work on together.

Chris was always fond of fixing things, so when he was young his grandfather Alfred taught him a great deal about how things work.

Chris believes that taking things apart and reassembling them is a great way to learn how they work.

The family lived in a three-story house. Chris’s father, Kevin, earned his living as a dairy manager. If the office alarm was tripped, it was his duty to respond. He had a responsibility to check what happened and ensure that everything was okay.Because of this, we had a company-provided landline in our house, in the 1970s this was rare to have a landline.

There was a problem, the phone was on the ground floor and we slept on the upper floor.Sometimes the phone would ring because the burglar alarm has been activated, but nobody heard it because it was downstairs.Chris’s grandfather had been a telecom engineer. He learned the ins and outs of how to install the phone from his grandfather, so Chris knew how to solve the problem.

Chris climbed out of a window to run the cables up the building, Within an hour we had a functioning telephone on the upper floor. Just imagine a young man aged 9 years old, installing an additional phone on the top floor of his house. Chris’s grandfather was a great engineer. He taught Chris everything he knows about engineering and even inspired him to pursue a career in the industry. By taking things apart you get a better understanding of how they work, Chris still takes things apart to this day.

Chris started Soundbass because he loved working at Bowers & Wilkins. He wanted to create a company that would continue to improve the quality of sound and help people enjoy music wherever they are. Chris has a degree in sourcing with over 30 years of experience working for some of the most iconic brands in the audio industry, including Bowers & Wilkins. In fact, Chris wanted to form a company that was dedicated to improving the sound of Sonos & Bose products.

Soundbass is based in Worthing, where Chris lives. We also have an office in London, as well as Asia Pacific and America. At Soundbass we believe that great audio should be available to everyone no matter what their budget. We have a wide range of audio accessories with prices to suit everyone, from wall mounts to high-quality uniquely designed floor stands.

What started as a passion has developed into a fully-fledged business in Chris’s garage, the first Soundbass product was sold just 3 months after it was created. Soundbass is a very young company but Chris isn’t just going to sit back and relax while the business grows, he’s dedicated to pursuing his passion for engineering and using all of our resources to create better products that will benefit people all over the world. The company is constantly improving and our products are being developed daily. We’re excited about where the business is going and every day that passes we become better, stronger and more knowledgeable.
